fund = a sum of money saved or made available for a purpose

a trust = [legal] an arrangement whereby a person or persons become nominal owner of property to be held or used for the benefit of one or more others.

There are many kinds of funds, including trust fund, hedge fund, mutual fund, sinking fund. These are fund-raising and managing organizations.

If you merely referred to "the fund" or "the funds", unless the context makes it clear that it is a group being discussed, the terms will be understood as referring to the money.
