Hi,

Is "4th July is a gala day for Americans" correct?

I suppose it's factually correct. We never use the expression "gala day", though. Can you think of another way to express the idea?

I've never heard of a "gala day." "Gala" is used for fancy formal events, like a gala held to raise funds for the symphony, etc.

The 4th of July is a holiday, a celebration.
