When do I use "the reason being" and "the reason for" please?

There's no need for a comparison. They are random phrases with the word "reason" in them. You can use them together:
I brought two raincoats - the reason for the second one being that I like to be sure.
I brought two raincoats - the reason being that I like to be sure.
I brought two raincoats. The reason for the second one is that I like to be sure.

There are lots of other words that you can follow "the reason" with.
