I have a question about "to give away".
Concretely said it's about "give X away" and "give away X".
Do you think that the following sentences are okay?
Don't give away your friends!
Don't give them away! (your friends)
Don't give away your friend!
Don't give him away! (your friend)
Don't give yourself away!
Don't give me away!
Don't give Gabriella away!
Don't give Angelina Jolie away!
Don't give away anyone!

And this is the final one:
Congratulations! You gave yourself away successfully!

P.S. "to give away" is similar to "to betrayal" - in case you're wondering.

Maybe it's better to write: don't give sb away. At least, it seems to be more idiomatic.
Anyway, it means to tell the police where someone is hiding, so they can catch him; a kind of betrayal.

Fine.
Don't give yourself away!
It can be.

I don't think it matters whether you write "Don't give away your friends" or "Don't give your friends away." To me, both of those sentences are correct.

Your last sentence should probably read: "Congratulations! You've given yourself away successfully!" I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean, though.

I don't think it matters whether you write "Don't give away your friends" or "Don't give your friends away." To me, both of those sentences are correct.

Your last sentence should probably read: "Congratulations! You've given yourself away successfully!" I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean, though.

-It should be noted that the meaning of phrasal verbs depends on their word order. They are compose of:
1. verb.
2. Particle :
a. adverb b. preposition.


-There are other considerations too
1-Animate or inanimate objects.
2-Length of the phrase.
3-Transitivty


- The pattern give + something + away is usually used for things not people.
