Hi,

Is the following sentence correct?

"I decided to rest until the first sunrise glimmers...."

There is first glimmer of light, sunshine, sunrise etc. It seems ok.
I do not like "first" in your sentence though:-?.I wonder what native speakers say?

Hi,

I'm not a teacher, but I too would say "the first glimmers of sunrise" The phrase "first sunrise" conjures up a different image, one captured in the song Morning Has Broken - "Morning has broken, like the first morning, blackbird has spoken like the first bird" Here the referece is to the first instance of something, and that's what I thought of when I read "until the first sunrise glimmers". Your structure could be used by someone about to to embark on a trip to a new land: "I won't wake happy until the first sunrise glimmers over my new home".
