Im not sure if this is correct:

"Maybe if you spoke like you actually got an education he wouldn't get so annoyed with you"


is it got? or have/had? any insight on this, (and WHY its wrong if it is) would help! thanks!

It depends on whether the person wants to emphasize that the other person received an education (got) or has an education (have) -- process or state. In practice, they mean the same thing, though.
