I would like to seek someone to solve the following grammar problems

At Weekends, they like going to the beach or going hiking.

Go to + place
Go + gerund = activity

1. Is the following sentence correct?
They like to go to the beach.

2. Why two gerunds are put together?
“Going” = gerund
“Hiking” = gerund

1. Yes, it is correct.
2. "To go hiking" (fishing, dancing, cycling, surfing etc.) is one of several idiomatic expressions that identify sport or recreation and can be used as "going hiking". As an alternative you could say "they like going to the beach or to go hiking".
