Hi there
Was wondering if some one could help me figure out a few things
was is the verb tense of these three sentences past perfect, present perfect? Somthing not even perfect at all :)


1. This time last week, I was lying on the beach (analyse as a structure)



2. If I had studied, I would have passed (analyse as a structure)



3. Would you mind closing the window? (analyses as a functional exponent)



Hey and does anyone know what the word family for economise is?

1. This time last week, I was lying on the beach (analyse as a structure)
was lying = +Progrssive, +Past, -Perfective
It is therefore PAST PROGRESSIVE

2. If I had studied, I would have passed (analyse as a structure)
would have passed = +Past, -Progressive, +Perfective
Therefore, it is: Past Perfect

had studied = +Past, -Progressive, +Perfective
Therefore, it is : PAST PERFECT

3. Would you mind closing the window? (analyses as a functional exponent)

would mind= +Past, -Progressive, -Perfective
Therefore, it is: Past Simple.
