1) Amongst all the tearjerkers I HAVE watched, this one definitely tops the lot.

2) Amongst all the tearjerkers I HAD watched, this one definitely tops the lot.

Which one should I use and why? I'm leaning towards the present perfect because there is a possibility of me watching other tearjerkers in the future. Am I right to say that?

Yes, you are right in that you'd normally use the present perfect there. But you'd use the past perfect if it was necessary. (I'll assume you know the rules for the use of the past perfect).
"Amongst all the tearjerkers I had watched up until that point, that one topped the lot".
