Hello, may you help me? I've put a great effort to identify the meaning of the bold part, but I couldn't. I have also written the preceding sentence.

It was all I could do not to get in her face and defend myself - as though that would prove anything.
As a matter of fact, I happen to weigh within fifteen pounds of what I did at twenty-five, and damn it all, I take care of myself.

Has someone said she has let herself get fat before that? In the US, we measure weight in pounds. She says that she weighs no more than 15 pounds more than what she weighed when she was 25 years old.
