Would you please explain the following in red more easily?

Sperry concluded... that one side of the brain is rational and analytical but lacks imagination and the other side of the brain is creative and intuitive but irrational..... Traditional views of innovation all conform in some way to this dual model of the human brain. They all involve some "hard/soft" sequence, such as deductive plus inductive reasoning, anaylsis plus creativity, art plus science, critical thinking plus gut instinct, logic plus feeling, and so on.

Thank you.

Hard skills are math and science. Objective. Repeatable.

Soft skills are creativity and art and emotional stuff.

Thank you for the answer.

Would there be a big difference in meaning if I change the word "plus" into "versus" there? I don't know why the writer used the word "sequence" there.

Yes it would change the meaning. The writer was illustrating the fact that the two sides are necessary to make the whole. The writer is not saying that, for example, analysis is opposed to creativity, but that analysis and creativity compose part of the brain. The word "sequence" is used to point this out - a sequence is something like, open the door, enter the room (first one action and then the other), or, 1,2,3 (first one number and then the next and so on). One of the sequences noted in the text is critical thinking plus gut instinct.

"Sequence" was meant to say that some art thought is then followed by a scientific thought in combination to form an innovation.

Hard/soft "combination" would probably have been better than "sequence."

"Plus" is absolutely essential. He is talking about the combination of the two factors, not them being set in opposition (versus).
