Hi,

Could anyone tell me how to interpret the phrase "hard-working words" in the following sentence:

The word 'work' must be one of the most hard-working words in the English language.

The word "work" has more than one function and more than 30 meaning, so, for a word, it works hard for a living; puts a hard day's work in. :D
