Please advise which of the sentences is correct?

1. The management grants John special allowance until his project has finished.

2. The management grants John special allowance until his project finishes.

Grammatically, both are acceptable. I prefer 1), BUT if you are going to use 'grants', then change 'has finished' to 'is finished'.


Is it correct that if I use "granted", then "has finished" should be used?

If you use granted, then was finished would be a good choice.

If you use will grant, then has finished would be good.
