I am wondering if my sentence makes sense in English. Would you please correct my mistakes?

Having no practical skills whatsoever, Maria used men more as repairmen to fix broken things in her flat rather than as lovers.

I'm not sure about that sentence, because it implies that she used them as lovers but used them even more as repairmen.
Also, the structure you used shouldn't have "rather" in it.
Finally, consider using, e.g., "partners" to avoid "men" and "repairmen" sitting close to each other.

teecher,

I meant that the sentence should imply exactly as you have mentioned in your post. She used them as lovers but even more as repairmen.

Would my sentence be correct like this:
Having no practical skills whatsoever, Maria used her partners more as repairmen to fix broken things in her flat than as lovers.

I was thinking of an ending such as "... viewed/treated them as lovers".

teechar,
That is exactly what I meant to say from the beginning.
I will repeat my sentence after your corrections as an exercise, and try to remember it for the future if I ever should write similar sentences.

Having no practical skills whatsoever, Maria used her partners more as repairmen to fix broken things in her flat than she viewed them as lovers.

Yes, and you can omit "she" if you like.
