Hi. I want to ask you a question, which is linked with the past perfect and the past simple.
Somewhere on the Internet I saw such examples and I don't know if they are correct.
1. He had hurt/hurt his back and he had to stay at house for 3 weeks.
2. The museum occupied the building where the art gallery had been/was.

In these examples the past perfect was appropriate.
Thx

#1 should say 'at home' instead of 'at house', but is otherwise correct with the past or past perfect. Formally, the number '3' should be written out. You could remove the second 'he' as well.

#2 is correct with either the past or past perfect. I probably prefer the perfect.

So you can either use the past simple or the past perfect and it's still correct? Of course I'm talking about this example.
