1. I don't like the shepherd boy because he was naughty and he was a liar.
2. I don't like the shepherd boy because he was naughty and a liar.

I am wondering if sentence 2 is incorrect.

Sentence (2) is correct and a little more natural than (1).

not a teacher

In BrE, both are fine and I would be more likely to use #2.
