help in paraphrasing

Could any teacher help me in paraphrasing the following sentences?

sorry. a mistake in spelling . It should be "edge" (i think it means "positive position" here".)

Also there is another sentence which I would be much appreciate if you could help me in paraphrasing:

2/This year Top Class(a company)invested heavily in a new plant in China and need to expand sales by volumen and revenue to pay for the borrowing costs and to justify the growth in capacity.
