Hello
I am a last year student at a linguistic university in Armenia and i'm majoring in English.
I have my final exams soon and one of the exams is to Render a Text from Armenian into English in written form.
My question is: Is there a set structure to render a text? like there's a structure to write an essay, right? (e.g. introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion).. So I wonder if there's a structure like that to render a text?
Thank You in advance.

That's hard to say without knowing the details of what you are studying. It sounds like 'Render' in this case simply means translate into appropriate English in which case the structure will not really differ very much. The introduction, main body, conclusion and so forth are likely to be much the same as in Armenian. There are many written forms so you would need to look at different types, e.g. articles, reports, discursive essays, etc.

Thank you for your reply.
We are probably going to render some political articles into English.
One of my teachers said that we would porbably need to kind of get the main ideas from the Armenian article and translate them into English and not translate the whole article. So they said that it's not going to be translation.
But i just don't get the meaning of rendering..if it's not translation, then it's paraphrasing i guess?

Ask your teachers/lecturers/examiners what they expect. We can only guess.

Ziggyjan, a better title would have been Render a text.
