This a somewhat basic question to be asking, but nonetheless I'd really appreciate an answer if anyone could help.

In an assignment it refers to the grammatical form (so I have to highlight a word a certain way when I am referring to grammatical form).

What I am wondering is what precisely, is grammatical form. Could anybody give me a clear definition?

Could you show us what the assignment says exactly?

Grammatical form would be the type of word, like verb, etc. You probably are expected to identify a key form, but without more information I can't say which. ;-)
