HI,

The following is an article explaining an activity to practice the P.P. Continuous and i've got a question re the suggested sentences:

Example:

Accusation: You’ve been drinking again!

Suggested sentences:

We saw the empty bottle. =>COULDN'T WE SAY "We've seen the empty bottle"?
Your friends from the bar told us. => COULDN'T WE SAY "Your friends have told us"?,
We can smell it on your breath.
You aren’t walking straight.
Your eyes are red.

THANKS

We could indeed.

Your friends from the bar told us. => COULDN'T WE SAY "Your friends have told us"?,

Maybe we could but we probably wouldn't.

Is the author American? Americans use the present perfect less often that Brits. :)
