"Herein lies its discrimination from true caution, which analyzes, and, having done so, scrutinizes details."

I have some difficulties understanding the above sentence.

Is this sentence mean

"Its discrimination from true caution analyzes and scrutinizes details, as it did so"?

There's something missing - the referent of 'it'.
True caution, analyzes, and, having done so, scrutinizes details. On the other hand, it doesn't. That's how you discriminate it from true caution.

Thank you for your advice. I will be far more careful about grammar.
