HELLO TDOL!

I'm still working on it but I can't use the tenses correctly. Well what should I do while I'm changing an active sentence to a passive one. Should I change the tense or what?

Thanks for your attempts. It would be enough for me to recieve a little explanation and a few examples.

MY BEST REGARDS.

MY BEST REGARDS.

Active: John ate cake.
Passive: Cake was eaten by John.

Basic How To
1. Move the object (i.e., cake) to the front.
2. Change the verb to passive: add Be + past participle (i.e., was eaten)
3. Put the subject at the end of the sentence and introduce it with "by" (i.e. by John).

EX: He gave me a gift => A gift was given to me by him.
EX: I did her homework => Her homework was done by me.
EX: We walked the dog => The dog was walked by us.

Note that, transitive verbs are passivized.

All the best, :D

Hiiiii,

Well I'm new on this site, too. I talked a little about me on the topic dedicated to newcomers.

I'm very glad to be a member of this site. It's more to speak about everyday life in english rather than speaking about grammar. Oh yes, If you are fond of english litterature, you may help me... I have 3 books to read for the exam that will allow me to be a teacher...

Well, I'm sorry for the mistakes. Hope you have understood.

Bye

PS: Cassiopea, are u japanese?

Cas, we often hear people saying that Japanese' English is the worst in Asia. What do you think of that? :)

Compared to French or to Japanese, YEEEEES, I think english is a very easy language...

The grammar isn't difficult at all compared to French or Spanish for instance.

I have studied japanese and have some Japanese friends and they told me that english isn't very well spoken in Japan...

Japanese are not very open to other countries. It's an island, don't forget this...

Yes François I agree with you that the UK is an island but it becomes to the Occidental world and the customs and culture are quite commonas ours in a way... Japan was occupied by the USA just after the worl war 2. It is a country full of old traditions. That doesn't mean they can't mix tradition and modernity, that's wrong! they manage to do it very well.

What I wanna say is that island hasn't opened to the world for a longtime. It's only after 1868 (era Meiji) that they began to greet foreigners and to move across the world. Then, the occupation of the Americans brought them a new kind of life, new items, a new society. (the USA changed all the japanese education system, industry ...etc)

As they were occupied by the americans (and are still occupied in Okinawa because of the military basis), japanese may be reluctant to english...

Well, it is a hypothesis but anyway, that is a fact that Japanese (in general) don't speak english very well.

Hi Canadian. It sounds a little weird but I wonder if the Canadian people spend their times in forests in case of sunny weather. It's said that it is traditional for Canadian people.
