Would these be appropriate questions?
a) How did his face go (after her question)?
b) How did his face look like (after her question)?
c) What was his face like (after her question)?

Forget about a). It is unidiomatic and would never be uttered by a fluent speak. Except for the like, which is incorrect, b) is okay: How did his face look? And c) is correct as it stands.
