In the following paragraph, could you please explain the bold sentence?

"I fall into the routine I've accidentally developed. After Seb's visit, I make breakfast, and sit on the floor with Zoe. Inane chatter echoes through the room from the television that I have on merely for background noise, and I leave the bowl of cereal on the coffee table beside me but I don't touch it. I'm already onto my second cup of coffee though, and it's as I'm lifting this to my lips that I am hit quite unexpectedly by an epiphany."

Have you looked up the word "epiphany"? If you have, could you tell us more what is difficult about the sentence that you did not understand?

Oh, you're right. I looked up the word "epiphany" in a bilingual dictionary and the presented equivalents did not make the meaning of the mentioned sentence clear. But, I just checked the word in a monolingual dictionary, and now I can understand the meaning of this sentence. Thanks a lot.
