I would like to know if the usage of hit below is correct or not. It is for installing the pipe.

Be careful not to hit the metal pipe against anything.

It might depend on how the metal pipe is being moved. If it is being lifted/lowered into place and the person moving it must carefully move it amongst other pieces of machinery etc, then it's possible that warning against "hitting" might be fine.

If it's a more general instruction:

Ensure the metal pipe does not make contact with anything else.

"Bump" could be used as well, since any contact would be slight and accidental.
