I didn't know there were such things. However, by where I grew up, there was something called a "Deaf Church". To me this implied that the congregation was deaf or that it catered to a deaf congregation. I was right. A hospital or clinic that treats deaf patients, however is more a "clinic for the deaf" as opposed to a "deaf clinic" which implies that the people who work there are deaf which usually is not the case.

The same way that a "handicapped taxi driver" is not the same thing as a "taxi driver who specializes in helping handicapped people"

Do you see the distinction?

-Nah-

Thanks Nah.

But "Hospital for the Deaf" looks strange for the name of a hospital.

NewHope,

The branch of medicine related to treatment of diseases and disorders of ears and aural ducts is called 'otology' or 'otolaryngology', the specialists being 'otologist' and 'otolaryngologist', respectively.

People with hearing problems suffer from 'hearing impairment', so how about 'hearing impairment clinic'?

Just a suggestion.

All the best

I think a lot of people would say something like 'deaf hospital' for short, though 'deaf hospital' should really mean that the building itself is deaf.... :?
