"Lights were switched off across the nation as Australians marked Earth Hour – the global call to action against climate change."

Hi,
It's an old and persistent doubt.
Why is it "Earth Hour" instead of "Earth Time"?
Which situations should I always use "hour" in place of "time"?
Thanks.

This reads like Earth Hour is an event, perhaps sponsored by a group, like Greenpeace.

thanks.

Yes, it's an event but why "hour" instead of "time"?
Is it because this "time" longs specifically one "hour"?
Besides being earth's "time", this "time" longs only one "hour"?

The hour for the bombardment was between 1300 and 1400.
What is the hour?
He savored his hour of glory.
What was the hour of death? At what hour do you open?
When is your dinner hour?
the man of the hour.
The doctor's hours were from 10 to 4. What an employee does after hours is his or her own business.
The sick man knew that his hour had come.

The sentences above were found on Dictionary.com.
It seems possible to me to replace "hour" by "time" on most of them.
Is it really possible? If so, why "hour"?
Thanks.

Don't try to overthink this: It is a public relations campaign to draw attention to global environmental issues. To set one hour aside for reflection on the environment is simply pausing to pay respect for the issue.

Thank you!
Do you think you can elaborate on my question about the sentences I have found on the dictionary?
Could "time" substitute "hour" on them?
Thanks!

No; an hour is a specific space of time.

Could somebody please help me? I wonder if I can use "time" instead of "hour" on these sentences.

1) What is the hour?
2) What was the hour of death?
3) At what hour do you open?
4) When is your dinner hour?

If I cannot, could you please let me know why?

Thanks!

Sorry, I misunderstood your question.

Yes, you can use time for hour in the sentences you provided.

However, you cannot change the name of the event from Earth Hour to Earth Time.
