Brazilian students, whenever they don´t know how to say a word in English, ask How do you say blahblahblah in English?. Is it right? Is it the most or one of the most common ways to ask this question? Is there a more common way?

What about " how can I say?" Is this also acceptable ?

Well, there's nothing wrong with it, but they shouldn't really be asking simply how they can say it. It's best to find out how it should be said correctly, which is why "How do you say......?" is more appropriate.
