Hello, Everyone,
I've watched a film which involved in the Campaign took place in Ardennes, France in 1944. The German soldiers given the nickname of "ya--bo" refer the Allied air forces. Could somebody tell me, how to spell it.
ps. "ya" sounds like the first part in yahoo, "bo" sounds similar to the first part of bowl.

Best regards

Vincent

I think the Germans might be saying, Ja wohl" - wohl/bowl, meaning 'yes, certainly (mein Kapitan) - in English, aye aye sir!
But I can't see this being used in the same way as 'Tommy' or 'the Bosch' are nicknames.
Can you quote dialogue with this in context?

Thank you for your aswering.
name of the film is "steel tempest"
A scharfuhrer (to an Orberfuhrer): The weather reports, Sir.
O:well?
S:It's not good.
O:what does that mean exactly?
S:they forecasting high pressure. with clear skys of whole France.
O:the "ya-bo"s will have a few day.
(*I am sure he was refering the Allied bomber and fighter of air planes when he say YA-BO)

He probably said "yabbos." Yabbo is slang to describe a person considered to be obnoxious, stupid, or useless. Although it can still be used in that sense, today it's mostly used as another slang term for a woman's breasts.
"Wow, loook at the major league yabboes on her!"
