Hello,

Is how goes it? (how are you?) commonly used in modern English? I am asking because I came across it in an older story (cca. 1920).

Thanks a lot.

It's common in spoken American English.

During the Berlin Airlift of 1948, the American command set up a big scoreboard labeled "Howgozit" where they recorded the number of operations and other information. The expression is still common today.

It's relatively common in BrE. Many people probably don't use it but they would certainly understand it.
