I am wondering if my sentences is are grammatically correct. Which of them sounds better?

1. How much does a subscription to the Times cost for a year?

Or should I say:

2. How much does a yearly subscription to the Times cost?

The second sounds better. I'd probably ask about an "annual subscription" or "a year's subscription".

If we are talking about a subscription for six moths could I write the following:

How much does a six-month subscription to the Times cost?

Yes. Note that if you're talking about the British newspaper, it's The Times. I missed that the first time.
