Hello.

Hello.

As in each company, it is customary to choose another member of the Supervisory Board by election when his predecessor dies or resigns. In this case, terms of office is 3 years.

I would like express the thought in the sentence below:

On such and such a day, a by-election for a three-year-long position of member of the Supervisory Board took place.

What is your opinion?

Don't use by-election. You could use vote. There was a vote to elect a new member of the Supervisory Board.
