Teacher : Don't speak in my class.

We can report the above in indirect speech like:
The teacher ordered his students not to speech.( Since the oringnal is a command, we use the verb order to report what the teacher say.)

Here is a dialogue for you to report:

Peter: Could I turn on the radio?
Kate: Of course, please do./ Well, I 'd rather you didn't if you don't mind.

Since what Peter said is a request, the verb could be ask. I am confused by the way to report the sentence in subjunctive mood.

THANKS.
