It has been two months since I changed my mind. VS. I changed my mind two months ago.

Although the tenses and the way of saying are different, the intended meanings are similar or the same. What do you native English speakers think? Do you sense any difference between them? Thank you so much as usual and have a good and safe day.

The first possibly attaches more importance to the duration of the time period.
