I gotcha

My question is what does "I gotcha" mean here? Notmally it mean I understand,but does it fit in the context?

I gotcha = I have got you. (Meaning , I have caught you or got hold of you)

These spellings 'gotcha' and 'wanna' etc., should be reserved for comic books

does it fit in the context?I have caught you? god has caught him?for what?does it make sense?

I think it would make it more clearer if you expanded it to: "He said I gotcha ya back".

In other words, "I am watching over you (and I will deliver my messages through hiphop speak as your mind cannot comprehend anything else)".
