1. I had told you not to go there but you didn't listen to me

2. I told you not to go there but you didn't listen to me

which one is correct?

#2 would be correct with a final punctuation mark.

#1 is wrong because you have used the past perfect tense without a good reason.

Aren't they both correct? We just don't know why #1 uses the past perfect without context.

Without context, I tend to judge them on their merits as stand-alone sentences.
