My teacher told me that my sentence:

I helped arranged the chairs. - is wrong

she said it should be:

I helped arrange the chairs. - this is right

but why is this correct??? if a sentence is in the past tense shouldnt the 'arranged' be in the past tense too? i asked my teacher why but she said i must just follow her answer.

i want to know why i am wrong. pls help me

Hi Kylene,

"I helped arrange the chairs" is actually a short version of,

"I helped to arrange the chairs",

and after 'to' you don't need any past tense. We only need one past tense to signal that it's finished.
