Hello friends!

we say "I just got a new shoe" or "I just got a new shoes" ?
NB: I'm referring to 1 pair only, I see that many people are using both. What's the difference? Thank you!

Hello, and welcome to the forum. The second sentence is almost right; just remove "a" to fix it.

The first sentence is grammatically correct but hardly anyone would say it because shoes normally come in pairs; "a new shoe" means just one shoe.

"One shoe" mean just the left or the right of the shoe or what? Didn't get it!!

When you buy new shoes, you get two of them: a right shoe and a left shoe. We call that a pair of shoes. If someone said "I just got a new shoe," you would think "That's strange. Nobody gets just one new shoe. They always get a pair." You wouldn't know whether they meant the left or the right shoe.

An amputee with only one foot might get a new shoe. Everyone else gets a pair of new shoes.

These don't work. You could say:

I just got a new pair of shoes.
I just got new shoes.
