Hi, I'm writing an essay for composition class, and I wrote this sentence but it doesn't make sense to me, but i don't know what is wrong...

Here is the sentence.
For example, imagine a woman sitting on a Saturday afternoon alone, watching TV instead of helping her mother clean the house, or having a nice talk with her sister or friend making her realize how valuable her family is.

Can you help me, please?

There is a lack of logic between the start of your sentence and "making her realize how valuable her family is". It does not seem to relate to what is in the rest of the sentence.
