Can somebody please explain the grammar in the following sentence:

I think having an effective advertisement really helps sell more products.

Why do help and sell stand next to each other?

Does it help you understand if you add "to" between the two verbs?

Some English verbs can be followed by a bare infinitive; "help" is one of them.
