I think that my problem is unique

Hi Teacher ,
I have a strange problem in english . I can speak english not so good but good enough .
But the real problem is that when I watch an english movie I can't identify all words said in the movie
even when I talk to a tourist I can express what I want to say but I can't understand all what he's saying .
I hope you understood my problem . please tell me what to do

Far from being unique, your problem is universally shared by every human being at certain times.

If you intend to post further questions on specific aspects of the language, please note these guidelines for the correct use of standard English:

- Start every sentence with a capital letter.
- Capitalise the word "I" (first person pronoun).
- End every sentence with the appropriate punctuation mark (full stop, question mark, exclamation mark).
- Put a space after a comma.
- Do not put a space before a full stop.

1. I have good news: your problem is not unique or strange.

2. I am trying to learn Spanish and Chinese. When I watch a Spanish- or Chinese-language TV show, I have a terrible

time understanding every word, too.

3. But the experts tell us that the secret is this: Do not try to understand every word:

a. First, watch something that you really enjoy.

b. Second, let all the words "bathe" over you. That is, just let the words (and the rhythms of the words) enter your ears.

c. In other words, do not try so hard. Relax.

4. I have now reached the point where I can understand maybe 80% of a newscast in Spanish. Of course, the film segments help me guess what they are talking about.

5. But when it comes to Chinese, my comprehension rate is -- at most -- 10%! It is my fault. I concentrate on reading

Chinese, and I seldom watch Chinese programs on TV.

6. When you speak with tourists, try to get the main idea. Don't try to understand every single word.
