1. I thought you care about her.
2. I thought you cared about her.

1. I thought that is what most people have. (If this is incorrect, why?)
2. I thought that was what most people have.


3. I thoughtthat is what they do best.
4. I thought that was what they do best.

Could someone help me with the post above? Thanks.

1. I thought you don’t have to eat the apple. (Is this incorrect? 'Don't' should be 'didn't'? Is it because 'thought' is in past tense and 'don't' is in present? Which means you can't think about something in the past and say it is right now?)
