1: Can we substitute 'go their own way' with 'go one's own way'?

2: Does 'this' mean 'being in a powerful position'?

3: what is the use of 'would' in this paragraph?

I feel that sometimes powerful people are kind of isolated beacuse everyone is looking to them to make the decisions. However, at the same time everyone wants the decisions to go their own way. This is difficult position to be in. I would say that power makes person's life difficult in some ways.

Yes.

2: Does 'this' mean 'being in a powerful position'?
No. It refers to the difficult position of not being able to please everyone.

3: [STRIKE]what is the use of[/STRIKE] Why is 'would' used in this paragraph?
It's tentative. Think of it as "If you asked me, I would say, etc."

How about if we have "that" instead of "this"? Is there any difference in the meaning?

However, at the same time everyone wants the decisions to go their own way. That is a difficult position to be in.
