I have not had a good experience with the airlines here domestically in probably about a year ago I would say.

The two previous posters have explained this well. I wanted to point out two other things about the original sentence - the word "ago" shouldn't be there, and it needs some punctuation.

I guess it would depend on whether it was "domestic flights" or "domestic airlines". Some international airlines also run domestic flights in countries other than their own.
