Please would you help me with these sentences.
1. If Peter's wife had been still alive, she would have already went outside and swept off the fallen leaves. He, however, did not bother and decided to wait some days until he would take a broom and sweep the patio.
What makes me confused is this second part of the sentence: "...until he would take a broom. I am not sure which tense should be used. The action still did not take a place so it could not be the past. I would appreciate if someone would explain to me the correct use of the verb form in this sentence.
