What are the difrences between If..Weather..Unless..?

With examples..........................

Whether (note spelling) = if + clear choice
Whether it rains or not, I'll take an umbrella.

Unless = if not

It's raining- you'll get wet unless you take an umbrella.

I think so, but there may be a difference in usage.

"Tell me whether you want to go or not."
"Tell me if you want to go or not."

The first one might be seen as more emphatic. (Context and inflection are going to make a difference in any case.)
