Wrong: I'm blue.
Correct: I'm feeling down.

Dear Teacher,

Is the expression " I'm blue" wrong or unusually for native English speakers? Thanks.

I'm not a teacher, but I'd say that it would be understood by most native speakers. However, I think it would be more normal to hear "I'm feeling blue", and even then the phrase might be out of place in more formal registers. Perhaps less a matter of being intrinsically incorrect, more a case of beig the wrong choice for the setting in which it was being used.
