Do not apply for a job _____ a place you regularly shoplift clothes.

Can anyone enlighten me what preposition of place should I use in the sentence above? And please elaborate when/how to use those prepositions.

Many thanks! :)

Either is OK in the context of your statement but, in general:

"At" is used for a general area/location. "At the airport"
"In" is used for an enclosed area/space. "In the lounge"
