Are these sentences both correct:

1-He behaved strangely in the classroom and out of it.

2-He behaved strangely in the classroom and out.

2's odd- both inside and outside might work.

So both of these will work:

2a-He behaved strangely inside the classroom and outside.
2b-He behaved strangely in the classroom and outside.

I am unsure about 2b.
