:-(i was hesitating when writing an email to ask a friend of mine to find out my handy drive. so we should use "data on the handy drive" or "in the handy drive?"

I always refer to information being stored on my hard drive/external drive/pen drive etc.

What is a handy drive?! :-D

What is a handy drive?!
I've seen the term used for both USB Flash drives and external USB hard drives, though I haven't heard native speakers using it.
